Terms of Service
Effective 31 October 2026
The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and [Legal entity name] for the use of Herdtrail. By creating an account you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use Herdtrail for a farm business, you confirm you are allowed to agree on its behalf.
Accounts, farms and helpers
- You must be 16 or over and give accurate details.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- A farm's administrators decide who can access it and with which role, and are responsible for the people they add. One person can help on several farms.
- If a farm records other people's details (for example workers' pay or a finder's phone number), the farm is responsible for having a good reason to keep them.
Plans and payment
- The Free plan covers up to 25 active animals and flocks. A flock counts as one, however many birds it has. Sold, deceased and archived animals do not count.
- Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment provider, which acts as the seller of record and adds any sales tax.
- You can cancel at any time; your plan continues until the end of the period you paid for. Unless the law requires otherwise, payments are not refunded for partial periods.
- If you move to a smaller plan or stop paying, nothing is deleted: you can still see and edit everything, but cannot add more active animals than the plan allows.
- We will give at least 30 days' notice of any price change, and it will apply from your next billing period.
Your data
You own the records you put into Herdtrail. You give us permission to store, process and display them only as needed to run the service for you, including showing your chosen information on public tag pages. You can download all your data or delete it at any time, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Not veterinary, legal or financial advice
Herdtrail records what you enter and shows reminders based on it. It does not give veterinary, legal or financial advice. You remain responsible for your animals' welfare and treatment, for following medicine withdrawal periods and food-safety rules, and for official record-keeping and reporting in your country (for example movement and identification rules). Always check medicine labels and follow your vet's advice.
Fair use
- Do not try to access another farm's data, break or overload the service, or get around plan limits.
- Do not upload anything unlawful, harmful or that you do not have the right to share.
- Do not use found-animal reports or tag pages to harass or mislead anyone.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
The service
We work hard to keep Herdtrail available and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may improve or change features. If we ever close the service, we will give at least 60 days' notice so you can download your data.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you use the service as a consumer, you keep your statutory rights.
Otherwise, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, livestock, crops or business, and our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in that period and 100 in the currency you pay in.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may end the agreement with 30 days' notice, or straight away for a serious breach of these terms.
Changes and law
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you before the change takes effect; continuing to use Herdtrail after that means you accept them. These terms are governed by the law of [England and Wales], without taking away any protection your local consumer law gives you. Questions: contact us through GitHub at github.com/Shazankk.
